Income and Ownership

Wealth begins with ownership of value.

Income is bound to my time. To earn more, I must work longer or increase the value of an hour.

I have played this game until now, and I have done reasonably well. But time is finite, and my own value cannot increase without limit.

Ownership is a different game. It means holding part of something whose value can grow. As that value grows, part of the increase becomes mine, independent of my time.

Income is payment for value I create.
Wealth is the growth of value I own.

I have learned how to increase income. Now I must learn what to own.

The rules change when the game shifts from income to ownership.

The question is no longer how much I earn, but what I own.
