People, Technology, and Change

Changes in people create changes in technology.

AI has no value on its own. Only when people use it and change their behavior do products and industries change, creating new value chains.

That change pushes technology forward in turn. New products demand new data and computation, while new bottlenecks reshape cloud infrastructure and hardware.

Cloud may seem distant from people, but it is ultimately infrastructure for human behavior. For a technologist, observing people is not a step away from technology.

Watching how people change is seeing the next demand for technology before it arrives.

I will therefore spend one weekday outside the lab with intention. I will observe what young people use, what frustrates them, and what they have begun to take for granted. The next demand for technology will appear first in their behavior.
