Chirashi sushi at TANTO

I went on a colleague’s recommendation. The line was absurdly long and remained just as long when we left. It had been a very long time since I had proper Japanese food. The restaurant seemed genuinely Japanese-run.

The chirashi was reasonably portioned and priced. The fish was fresh and clean-tasting, closer to what I would expect at an omakase than aged sashimi. The ankimo was excellent. The ebi shinjo was good, though it tasted amusingly familiar—almost like Busan fish cake. The ebi tempura was ordinary but solid and filling.

We ate as two and spent about $80 per person. For Silicon Valley, the value was surprisingly fair.
